GABINETE DE IMPLEMENTAÇÃO DO PROJECTO HIDROELÉCTRICO DE MPHANDA NKUWA

The Government of Mozambique, through the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), represented by the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project Implementation Office (GMNK) is holding a conference with the pre-qualified potential Strategic Investors, on Tuesday, 27th September 2022, in Maputo, as part of the tender process for the selection of the Partner to develop the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project and associated energy transmission infrastructures.

This is a technical, interactive, briefing session on project and tender issues, the status of the review and update of the technical, environmental, economic, financial, market studies, including issues of legislation, associated regulations and the legal and institutional framework in the sector.

During the conference, the project’s international financial institution partners, such as the World Bank Group (WB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), will speak about their role in the project, and address issues of financing and guarantees for the project.

After the conference, the bidders will visit the sites, over the next two days, where the project will be implemented in Tete province. This programme is included in the Book of Specifications of the Strategic Partner selection tender and will allow the investors to be informed about the natural conditions of the project’s location. This information is fundamental for the preparation of the technical, economic and financial proposals in response to the tender.

The event, called the Mphanda Nkuwa Project Bidders Conference, will bring together MIREME, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Land and Environment (MTA), the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports (APIEX), GMNK, the international financial institutions partners of the project, such as WB, AfDB and the potential investors pre-qualified for the project.
