Mphanda Nkuwa project is included in Mozambique’s National Energy Sector Master Plan for the period 2018-2043 as a national priority and least cost energy generation, as well as priority investment for the Sourhern Africa Power Pool.

Mphanda Nkuwa is the largest hydroelectric project under development in Mozambique. Its low energy production costs are expected to be among the lowest in the region, combined with relatively limited environmental and social implications.
